Learning to Dive

The first step to learning to scuba dive with Putney Sub-Aqua Club is to contact us at [email protected] so that we can arrange to meet you at our regular Tuesday club night from 9pm at our social club in Putney where we’ll give you all the info you need to decide if club diving is for you.

The next step is for one of our instructors to take you on a Try Dive in our training pool at Putney Leisure centre, also in Putney. A Try Dive will give you a sense of what the sport is all about whilst in the comfort of an indoor swimming pool. The Try Dive includes a pool side explanation, in water demonstrations and guidance from your instructor. You must be able to swim and be 16 or over to participate in a Try Dive.

See how much a Try Dive costs.

If you decide to join the club you’ll need to fill out the necessary paperwork to become a member (please see the Becoming a Member page for more details) and hand over your membership fee at which point our Training Officer will get you onto our training schedule. Once you’re a qualified Ocean Diver you’ll be able to join our active schedule of dive trips.
